How it Works

The Principle

The principle
Betek TungStuds form optimum protection against wear for all digging and excavation work.

The principle
A Betek TungStud is welded on in less than 1 second. The ceramic ferrule protects the weld pool and is removed after the TungStud has been welded on.
Welding process

The principle
In the course of the digging work, the space between the TungStuds fills up with the extracted material and, through the so-called ‘rock box’ effect, forms an additional layer of anti-wear protection covering tool’s entire surface.

The principle
Welded on with ceramic ferrule touching ceramic ferrule, the TungStuds form an even, compact pattern, with the staggered rows maximising the rock box effect.

Done in a Second – The Welding Process

the welding process
The TungStud (1) is placed onto the metal surface (2) that is to be protected. To protect the weld pool a ceramic ferrule (3) is placed around it.

the welding process
When an electric current is applied, the TungStud raises up and an arc is initiated..

the welding process
The arc causes TungStud and metal surface to become partly fused.

the welding process
The TungStud sinks into the fused mass.

the welding process
The two become completely joined.

Whenever you are welding on TungStuds, suitable protective equipment must always be worn!
